Municipal Office of National Commission for Civic Education engages youth groups on violence extrimism

The municipal office of National Comission for Civic Education has engaged youth groups in the Krachi East District on violent extrimism in preparation for a peaceful general election in December.

Welcoming participants to the program sponsored by European union, the Deputy regional director of the Commission Mr. Gagakuma Satriakor said the meeting has been necessitated by the looming threats of violent extrimist activities in the West African sub region adding that election related misunderstanding and agitations are fertile grounds for the activities of these extremist hence the need to ensure peace before, during and after the elections.

The Krachi East municipal Police commander, Supretendent Mohammed Yussif Tanko who spoke on ways to resist and withstand the appeal of terrorism and what to do during violent attack, ways to detect youth radicalization and signs of recruitment as well as mediation and resolution of local conflicts.

He said children exhibiting strange behavior or living beyond their means could be a sign of negative influence and urged parents and guardian to conduct checks on their wards.

Chief Supretendent Tanko advised parents to be mindful of the kind of friends their wards make and what they do during their leizure time adding that it’s important to check on their children are in bed.

He urged people to have a second thought about any information heard.

Stakeholders which included women and Youth groups, media, political parties, associations, persons living with disability and CSOs expressed satisfaction for the engagement and wished subsequent ones could be organized to impact their lives

Apostle Adu Gyamfi Moses, chairman of Ghana pentecostal and charismatic council drew down the curtains of the program by laying more emphasis for the need for peace and urged all to strive hard for peaceful co- existence.
