The recipient who have acquired various vocational skills to enable them establish their own businesses as well as improve their operations.
The start-up kits included 75 sewing machines and accessories, 24 hair dryers and its accessories. This formed part of the Mastercard works project which is targeted at creating jobs for young people in the country.
Honourable Gyamfi Boateng, the Municipal Chief Executive of Krachi East in the Oti Region, who presented the items to the beneficiaries in Dambai on Wednesday 9 October, 2024 urged them to put the skills they acquired and the kits to good use to lead sustainable able lives.
He advised them to do their work diligently, train others to also do well.
He told them that, “you can make it in whatever field you belong” urging them to venture into entrepreneurship rather than waiting for white colour jobs at public institutions, which were not available and those who sell items received should desist from such awful acts.
Mr. Collins Kwame Korkor, the Oti Regional Director of Ghana Enterprise Agency said, alot of young people in the nine districts of Oti Region has been trained and awarded certificates as part of the projects which has improved their access to markets even outside the region and country. This facilitation is still ongoing and more beneficiaries are assisted to package their products. Mr. Collins was hopeful that the beneficiaries would make good use of the opportunity to improve and sustain their businesses to make profit and create jobs.
He gave the assurance of his outfits readiness to partner government and other organisations to create jobs for the youth through entrepreneurship and business development programmes.
Madam Jennifer a beneficiary who received a sewing machine and it’s accessories expressed gratitude to the project partners saying the items would help her improve her sewing as well as train others.
