World standards day marked with a call for recognition of standards in transactions

The regional manager of the Ghana standards authority (USA) Mrs. Fameye Addo has appealed to Ghanaians to recognize the importance of standards and demand same in their transactions.

She said standard were not only important but also constituted the visible thread that wove the fabric of progress.

“In the realm of healthcare,they are the guiding principles that ensure the safety, efficacy and accessibility of medical services and products”.

By adhering to these standards, we guarantee that the medicines we consume,the treatment we receive and the technologies we rely on are of the highest quality, she emphasized.

Mrs Fameye made the call on Kano Anopa Bosuo morning show  on Monday 14th October 2024 as Ghana joined the rest of the world to mark this year’s world standards day.

This year’s celebration is on the theme:”Shared vision for a better world, standards for SDG’s with focus on SDG 13 (Climate action)

She said the time had come for Ghanaians to demand that government, institutions and industries prioritised the implementation of standards that protected the environment in order to enhance their quality of life.

The pivotal theme resonates deeply with their vision of a world where climate change does not have a negative effects on individuals and  the environment being protected.

On her part, standards provided a fair playing field for all business and for consumers to get value for money in any exchange.

Mrs. Fameye noted that, SDG’S could only be achieved through the collaboration of many public and private partnerships and use of all available tools such as international standards and conformity assessment.

In addition, she said the authority had beefed up it’s capacity and therefore pleading with people to desist from bushfires and other activities that causes the ozone layer to deplete and that there has been changes in the rain pattern as a result of climate change and thereby urged the people of Oti Region to take advantage of their presence in the Oti Regional capital.
