Kabre association launched with a traditional durbar in Dambai

The Kabre community in Dambai in Krachi East of the Oti Region on Wednesday 16 October 2024 organized a grand durbar to dully launch their association at the Lapas park.

Addressing the occasion, Mr. Daniel Mensah, chairman of the Kabre association highlighted on a shared cultural identity among the people of Kabre and emphasised the importance of unity among the people of Kabre.

“Unity cannot be achieved without first establishing peace and laying a solid foundation rooted in cultural preservation.”

He called for a renewed focus on teaching Kabre languages, traditions and values to the younger generation, which he underscored as crucial for maintaining a cohesive community.

During the event, the formation of the Kabre association was announced with Nana Solomon Amanibo IV, paramount chief of Kabre in the Oti Region blamed the political parties for tagging the people of Kabre as foreigners . But this same people will come to them during election for their votes.

He advised the youth not to allow themselves to be used for cheap political gains.

Playing a key role as a founding member, the association aims to unite the Kabre people across national boundaries and promote cultural and educational development.

This initiative, he said will be a crucial step in preserving the rich Kabre culture and cultivating a sense of belonging among younger generations.

” Occasionally, we will organize programs that will bring our people back home, reinforcing our rich cultural heritage, he added.
